FANOS is a charity organisation established in 1998 devoted to improve the lives of Ethiopian children who are orphaned, victims of HIV/AIDS, abandoned and left on the streets, and those affected by deprivation and poverty. There are hundreds of children with no one to care for them. FANOS works extremely hard to help children in need to gain access to basic welfare and education. Therefore we have developed the below four multilateral programmes which provide vital support to those children and young individuals. The core focus of our programmes is on education. We believe that mainly EDUCATION can help empower children and young people to break through the poverty cycle and sustain better future for themselves and their communities. Sponsoring a child is a life changing experience for both, the sponsor and the child in need. It means not only ensuring a child’s basic welfare is met but also that they get access to education. You are giving a child a chance in life for a better future they have always deserved.
Life Skills Training
This is one-off support helping underprivileged children to pay towards their yearly school expenses, without which they would otherwise not be admitted to school.
It also provides Life Skills Training for older children to help them live independently.
We regularly send computers and books to schools and libraries in Ethiopia so children can have better access to learning materials and develop basic IT skills which will help them to become more successful in their studies.
A large number of children on FANOS sponsorships programmes live far below basic living standards, in some cases, just in plastic sacks on the streets. FANOS raises funds to help re-house those children so they can successfully focus on their education and improve their future.
